Network penetration testing

We probe your external perimeter and internal network the way an attacker would, to find exposed services, weak configurations and the paths that lead from one foothold to your most critical systems.

Overview

Can an outsider get in, and how far can they go?

External testing looks at everything you expose to the internet: firewalls, VPNs, email, remote access and public servers. It answers the first question: can an outsider get in?

Internal testing starts from inside your network, as a compromised laptop or a malicious insider would. It answers the next question: once someone is in, how far can they go? Weak Active Directory settings, open file shares and flat networks often turn a small foothold into full domain compromise.

What you receive

  • Executive summary for leadership, with an overall risk rating
  • Technical findings with severity (CVSS), evidence and step-by-step reproduction
  • Remediation guidance your developers and engineers can act on
  • Debrief call to walk your team through the results
  • Complimentary re-test to confirm each issue is fixed
Scope

What we test

External perimeter

Internet-facing hosts, open ports and services, VPN and remote-access gateways.

Vulnerable services

Missing patches, end-of-life software and known exploitable vulnerabilities.

Active Directory

Kerberos and NTLM attacks, weak delegation, excessive privileges and paths to Domain Admin.

Lateral movement

Credential reuse, network segmentation and how far an attacker can travel between zones.

Wireless networks

Wi-Fi encryption, guest-network isolation and rogue access points, on request.

Configuration weaknesses

Default credentials, weak protocols and misconfigured network devices.

How it works

The Digital Fortress protocol

Every engagement follows a disciplined, repeatable protocol, governed by signed rules of engagement so your operations stay protected throughout.

Phase 01

Reconnaissance & planning

We map your footprint, confirm targets and agree scope and rules of engagement in writing.

Phase 02

Identification & analysis

Automated scanning plus deep manual analysis pinpoints weaknesses, including business-logic flaws tools miss.

Phase 03

Exploitation & validation

Under controlled conditions we safely exploit findings to prove real-world impact, with no disruption.

Phase 04

Reporting & re-test

Executive and technical reports, a debrief with your team, and a complimentary re-test to confirm every fix.

Standards & frameworks

Mapped to the standards you report against

Findings are mapped to the frameworks your auditors and regulators use, so the report also works as compliance evidence.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you run an internal test if you work remotely?

Most internal tests run remotely through a small virtual machine or VPN access you provide inside your network. If on-site work is needed, we agree it during scoping.

What is the difference between a vulnerability scan and a penetration test?

A scan lists potential weaknesses automatically. A penetration test goes further: our testers confirm which issues are real, chain them together and show what an attacker could actually achieve. Read our full comparison.

Will testing affect our systems?

We avoid disruptive techniques unless you approve them, and agree testing windows and emergency contacts in the rules of engagement before starting.

How often should we test our network?

At least once a year and after significant changes, such as a new office, data center, firewall or major migration. Many compliance frameworks, including PCI DSS, set annual testing as a minimum.
